Abel Petros (b. 2001, Addis Ababa) is an emerging artist exploring memory, emotion, and self-discovery through visceral visual narratives. A 2025 graduate of Alle School of Art and Design, Addis Ababa University, his work blends personal memoir, Ethiopian heritage, and universal human experiences, oscillating between introspection and raw expression. Experimenting with new mediums, he redefines psychological storytelling and self-portraiture.

My artistic practice is an intimate dialogue with myself a relentless excavation of the past and present to understand how creation shapes my psychological evolution. Through this ongoing conversation, I dissect my identity, confront buried emotions, and document the visceral forces that mold my inner world. My work is not just an act of expression but a mirror, revealing the raw, often chaotic interplay of joy, madness, sorrow, and rage that defines the human experience.

Each piece serves as a psychological battleground, a space where I wrestle with the contradictions within me. By externalizing these struggles, I transform them into something tangible a testament to resilience, a record of transformation. The process is both cathartic and confrontational, forcing me to reconcile the fragments of my psyche.

Yet, the most compelling revelation occurs when others engage with my work. Witnessing audience’s project their own narratives, fears, and desires onto my creations deepens the dialogue, turning introspection into collective exploration. Their interpretations become unexpected catalysts, fueling the next chapter of my artistic journey. In this way, my practice is never solitary it is a bridge between my inner chaos and the shared complexities of being alive.
