Post Gallery was founded in 2023 by Frehiwot Demssie, an art enthusiast who was working independently with artists and cultural centers for the past 10 plus years. Frehiwot combined her business background and her passion for art, and opened Post Gallery in 2023, at the Ethiopian Skylight Hotel. Frehiwot is the founder of “Her story” art annual project, showcasing emerging female artists, and the Co-founder of “The spaces Africa” network of galleries in Africa . Frehiwot curated more than 25 shows independently, including cultural centers like Alliance Ethio-Française and Fendika Cultural Center; a free art space for artists to showcase their art works in Addis Ababa.
Post Gallery has now evolved to The Space Ethiopia; we've moved to a new, larger location in the city center, becoming part of The Spaces Africa network. We're thrilled to showcase diverse contemporary art forms across the continent, solidifying Addis Ababa's place as Africa's capital.
We are driven by the challenges of spaces for artists to showcase their works, and exposure to the external art world. The Space Ethiopia thrives to put our artists in the radar of the art world and bring professional development programs, and educational initiatives that support a vibrant arts ecosystem.
